This is why I suggested you ignore the OS for the time being, as from what I can gather the problem doesn’t reside there and there is no salient information to be obtained from looking at things like Everest. Disk Management doesn’t see it either. I would like to make a request, before I crash and burn. During bootup, the fast controller screen gives me options for the drive, but nothing seems to be going on.

I thought that by running the drivers during the installation that would update the BIOS. Some of the products that appear on this site are from companies from which QuinStreet receives compensation.

Check your manual, if I remember correctly, your mobo only supports sata1 If as U say U have purchaced an new harddrive, it will be SataII, unless asta specified a sataI harddrive.

November 24, Click here it’s easy and free. Technically you shouldn’t need to do this, but sometimes it is necessary as older controllers occasionally seem to have trouble recognising newer drive models.

I plugged everything in and started the computer booted the windows sataa and it says there is no drive attached. Beedub on November 25, Now I can get some sleep!


Are you running an updated BIOS version? To get a sataII hardrive to work, you will need a new motherboard.
